Katie Barbera, MS, RDE, CDE

Katie is a Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian and Certified Pump Trainer for various insulin pumps. She provides Medical Nutrition Therapy services for the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Women’s Comprehensive Health Center at the North Shore LIJ Health System, and is the Program Coordinator for the Health System’s ADA Recognized Diabetes Education Program.

Katie received her BS in Nutrition and Dietetics from Queens College, CUNY and her MS Ed in Nutrition Education from Queens College, CUNY. She is at present a doctoral candidate in Clinical Nutrition at UMDNJ. She holds academic appointments as Adjunct Professor at C. W. Post, Long Island University and State University of NY, Old Westbury. Katie believes in a behavioral based approach to nutrition intervention and promotes the importance of individualizing nutrition goals.
