Daniel Lorber, MD, FACP, CDE

Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes – June 2009
Dr. Lorber is director of endocrinology and associate director of the Lang Center for Research and Education at the New York Hospital in Queens and a clinical associate professor of medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is medical director of the Diabetes Control Foundation and the Diabetes Care and Information Center of New York, a diabetes research center in Flushing.
Dr. Lorber is also the senior partner in a multidisciplinary endocrinology group practice in New York and a clinical researcher and educator. His research and teaching interests focus on the appropriate treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors.
Dr. Lorber received the Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes award from the American Diabetes Association in June 2009. This award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding efforts in diabetes care and is recognized as a highly regarded clinician and educator with more than 10 years of distinguished service.
Dr. Lorber received a B.A., from Columbia College. In 1972 he received his M. D. degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Between 1975-77 he completed a Fellowship in Endocrinology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology and Metabolism and a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Since 1986, he has served on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Self Management and during 1987-2007 he was Editor-in-Chief, Practical Diabetology.
Dr. Lorber has numerous original communications in reviewed journals and has written a number of book chapters and abstracts.
